I have not played the game, but I have watched some good game-play videos by YouTube user tokshen. “ Rhythmortis” (Lobby) – Crypt of the Necrodancer The great thing is that the track returns later in a filtered version in track 27. The track starts simply with a chippy melody which builds into a much larger sound and is a stand out track on the album. Normally traffic is a stressful impatient time, but I was a happy driver once track two “Rhythmortis” started. I began listening to the soundtrack on the highway as I was stuck in traffic. The opening track on the album “Tombtorial” is a chilled out electronic tune, and a nice way to start off the album. Read on to find out if you should pick up this soundtrack to kick off your weekend. If you’re in the USA you can look forward to Memorial Day weekend next week. My first play through of the album was during a drive from Ottawa to New York State to camp over the Victoria Day long weekend in Canada. I listened to the soundtrack through at least three times and was blown away with the blood pumping beats and pleasant repetition and alternate versions of tracks. The soundtrack contains 42 tracks and is a blend of chiptune rock and electronic melodies with a runtime of just under two hours. ![]() It's my honest opinion of the title. The Original Soundtrack to Crypt of the NecroDancer is my first experience with music composed by Danny Baranowsky who has composed the music for Super Meat Boy, The Binding of Isaac and who has also worked on some excellent arrangements including Super Metroid: Relics of the Chozo. By the way, the devs wouldn't know me (or this review) from a hole in the wall. **EDIT: Actually I am and I do, "Glair ion." It just looks like I am enjoying it a whole lot more than you at this point. These are the companies we should support. By the way, the addition of three separate control schemes and the option to play locally stored tunes speaks to the highest levels of developer prowess. Thank you, Brace Yourself Games! I look forward to many hours of fun on the go. The rhythmic approach to traditional dungeon-crawling distinguishes this title from nearly all others. I had been wondering whether the simple yet elaborate mechanics would be a good fit for mobile, and the developers have answered with a pulse-pounding affirmative. Just a couple of ours into the Steam version on my computer and this title releases. 5-STAR GAME THAT IS UNPLAYABLE IN ITS CURRENT STATE. UPDATE: TOO SMALL AND IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL ON THE IPHONE X. However, if you have or are playing an instrument, like I am, then it’s a phenomenal game. I do not recommend the game for anyone without a keen sense of rhythm the rhythm is obviously a core part of the gameplay, and having not yet mastered keeping rhythm will make an already hardcore game a lot harder. (That progress stops after a while though.) Regardless, the rush you feel after every run, success or fail, surpasses the frustration of the ridiculous learning curve. ![]() It’s difficulty makes progress deliciously rewarding and there’s a somewhat consistent sense of progress, to keep you coming back. Otherwise, the game is brutally difficult. Sometimes the game will lag for no reason- as if the character is underwater. There is a huge bug with the pause button - if you pause and come back sometimes the game will freeze, causing you to lose your progress, which is frustrating. This game is polished, unique, and almost bug free. ![]() TouchArcade: “One of this generation's finest games” - 5 stars The Guardian: “You're gonna love it” - 5/5 Gaming Age: “Unique, fun, and wildly imaginative” - A+ Independent Games Festival: номинация на премию Excellence In Audio Independent Games Festival: номинация на премию Excellence In Design
